We will explore the works of textile arts by using commercial and natural dyes on cotton and calico. After fabrics are dyed, we will then apply printing techniques such as lino blocks or screen printing. Would you like to design and make your own fabric for a garment or throw pillow? Maybe you have a piece of clothing that you would like to upcycle? Throughout this course we will learn about the effects that commercial and natural dyes have on fabric (Did you know that apple leaves make a gorgeous orange colour?). We will use Lino printing, embroidery, and embellishments to enhance our fabric. Finally, we will explore sewing techniques to construct your design. Your design can be simple and minimalistic or complex and dynamic.
